"True to Life" Sound
From its official opening in Eastwood (Sydney) in 1992, Aphek Studio has been the recording home of Engineer, Greg Dixon. Greg has always had a passion and recognised gift for capturing 'true to life' sounds; whether that be acoustic guitar, vocals, strings, a drum kit or a full band playing live. Greg is an engineer that musicians have come to trust to capture their sound. In this day and age, where more and more engineers rely on 'modelling' software, samples and pitch and timing correction, Greg believes that the best music is still created, when you 'get it right at the source'.
Room to Create
In 2002, with the desire to give clients more space in the studio, control room and a relaxed lounge room, the original studio in Eastwood closed and a new, much bigger studio was opened in Narara on the NSW Central Coast. The new studio was pupose built and is large, yet very comfortable, with a great ambiance to relax the creative team and inspire better work. Situated on 4.5 acres of regenerating bush and ancient rainforest, it is a great place to clear your head and focus on creating great music.
Recommended By Top Session Musicians
Aphek maintains it's reputation as one of the best places to capture the actual sound of your instrument. Top session drummers say that their kits have never sounded so good. Horn players take his miking techniques to their other sessions. Bands understand why Greg encourages them to try their best -after all, they are the clients, they will be living with the results of their efforts in the studio. The biggest recomendation for Aphek, is that most business, is either repeat or from word of mouth.
Quality Results
Greg is your engineer first and a musician second. You can expect him to care about the art and musical quality of your work without compromising your sound because of the latest technical gimmick or his own agenda. At Aphek, the technology is used to help capture you at your best, not as an end in itself. |
